Over at Instagram HQ, it feels like they’re releasing new updates for the grid every single week. The latest, and very welcome, update rolling out gradually across accounts is the ability to edit and rearrange your Instagram grid! Here, you’ll find all the information on how to change your grid on Instagram.
Following more than one Instagram grid change in recent months, including a more recent switch to a 3:4 ratio, many users were frustrated with the appearance of their grid. Going from square to portrait meant carefully curated square grids were cropped, causing banners to misalign and graphics with text to be cut off.
How to edit your grid
Here’s exactly how to edit your Instagram profile grid:
1. Ensure your Instagram app is updated to the latest version.
2. Navigate to your profile and hold down on any post.
3. Select ‘Edit Grid’.
4. Drag your posts around to preview and rearrange them in your desired order.
5. Swipe back to exit edit mode, and there you go!
Remember, as this is rolling out gradually, you may not have this feature available yet!
Tips for curating your grid
With all this newfound freedom, how exactly should you utilise it?
Tip 1: Never place similar content side-by-side.
Tip 2: Use a mix of faces (think models, UGC or influencers), product and text-based graphics.
Tip 3: Stick to your brand colours, though allow for subtle variation in texture and tone.
Remember, it’s important to strike a balance between aesthetic feeds and meaningful, engaging content.
